We shot today’s newborn at home, snuggled with his parents. Unbelievably, Little E. is over a year old as I write this. I was honored to be his newborn photographer at a moment of our collective innocence, in January 2020. The world seems a bit different now, more gray, as we await the spring of our national pandemic, waiting for lives and livelihoods to bloom once again. In the meantime, I will tell you about sweet baby E. He is the union of two cultures, as his papa is originally from Latin America and his mama is from the USA. It made for a darling boy, one who was easy with his smiles and an angel for his photo shoot.
I love shooting newborns in all types of settings. Of course, I’d go on to capture them in settings I didn’t expect as 2020 wore on. Looking back at these photos, I have to wonder if his parents designed their home with a photographer in mind! Clean decor, fresh, bright spaces, and lots of white linens to bounce light off of made this a dream in home newborn session.
We used several items of sentimental value to E’s parents in the session. My reminder to you, reader, is that you can always ask to include them in your photos! We incorporated a special swaddle, a handmade pillow from a grandparent and a toy that mama acquired when she was still expecting. In home newborn sessions always have a very relaxed, casual vibe, so contact me today if that lines up with yours too.
It is always best to book your newborn session while you are still expecting. Indeed, in home sessions have a more flexible timeframe for scheduling. We want to capture them while they are little but they do not need to be as curled up as studio newborns should be. That said, you’ll be sleep deprived and distracted while learning to care for your small human! It’s a bit easier to set up before those sleepless nights set in.
