In our pre-shoot discussions, little O.’s mom mentioned her chosen color scheme and I was so excited! I have plenty of gold props and decor in the studio, so a gold, pink and mint theme was perfect. It was also so refreshing and fun to me! Also incredibly fun – this newly minted one year old. Just look at her gallery and you’ll see the amazing faces she made. One other thing her mom mentioned was how she loved her daughter’s little feet. Check out her toe point. In a former life I danced a little bit and did some aerial acrobatics so I notice when someone has a nice toe point! It’s a strange detail, but I’ve seen enough kiddos to be impressed by what are essentially dancer’s feet.
O., like many of my cake smashers, was not at all into her cake. Like, get that stuff away from me, what are you trying to do to me, not into the cake. She tried a little and smooshed it some at the urging of her parents. You just need a few to go home with those fun messy photos. It was really funny too, how not into the cake she was. In the end, her parents just cleaned her up and we shot some family photos, which I’m obsessed with. It’s always awesome to capture the connection between mom and daughter, but I also loved how much fun she had with her dad. There’s always one parent who’s the primary one behind the camera, so I like to make sure there are plenty of solo shots with each parent.
This was one, sweet happy little family and I was thrilled to capture them and some portraits of their delightful toddler. Interested in a cake smash, family portrait or just a one year birthday session? Contact me today to discuss whether you’d like to be in studio, on location or at your home.
