A. and L. are of course sisters, and I’ve know their mom since A. was a newborn. I remember that she had the best head of hair, and I remember when her mom told me she was expecting L. All of this to say, is that this portrait session, from all the way back in fall of last year, is pretty special. It is also special as it is quite possibly my favorite session of 2019. The girls were super cooperative at 4 and almost 3 and the golden fall light couldn’t have been more magical. I basically asked the girls to love on each other and they did it! Multiple times! Of course a few of those portraits of them hugging turned into slight wrestling, but they were little after all.
I asked them to run, throw things and generally be themselves and the result is a picture of confident, energetic and happy children. What more could their mama want, when looking at these photos, 5, 10 or 20 years from now? My only wish is that I could have convinced her to be in the photos herself. When she saw the photos, she gave me one of the highest compliments: she told me she cried happy tears looking at them. My guess is that it shows her girls doing what all moms hope for their children: enjoying each other’s company. After all, your siblings know you the longest, even longer than your parents (hopefully).
Would you like to book fall family portraits? Don’t wait – I am usually booked for the fall by the end of September! Head here and tell me what you have in mind.
