This mama-to-be came to me with a very clear vision for her maternity photos. She loves rustic vibes and imagery, and in her inquiry asked if we could shoot on a farm. I’ve shot maternity sessions on a beach, in a field, and in my studio, but a farm was new! Of course, now that I’ve done it, I cannot wait to do this again.
Muscoot Farm is in Westchester County and owned by the Westchester parks system. This means that entrance was free, we could wander around pretty unencumbered. I scouted the location a few weeks before with my 3 year old, and we had so much fun. There was a ton I couldn’t explore in either visit. I highly recommend this park for parents of older toddlers and elementary-aged kids, since there’s lots of educational content.
Back to my mama – she is expecting a baby boy, so came with a blue dress and her partner also wore blue. It’s fun to change up your looks so she also brought a white dress that coordinated well with her husband and contrasted nicely with her coloring. For part of the session she even wore a sweet flower crown with blue flowers. While there was some concern about the weather leading up to the day, we ended up with perfect weather. It was one of those early spring days that only happen a few times in the season – not too hot and sunny with just a hint of a breeze.
I am also shooting this lovely couple’s newborn session and I’m so excited. Hard to take a bad picture with these faces, right?
