This mama also did a package of maternity & newborn photos, and I cannot tell you how fun that is – I like it as much as when I shoot a newborn and then their cake smash/first birthday. This baby was number 3, and the third boy so you’ve definitely got a boy mom here. It was super fun to meet baby after shooting the maternity session, and also fun to see how the third kiddo looked so much like his brothers. It’s going to be one wild ride with all of these boys in her house, and so I hope I captured some nice memories for mama before there’s triple the boy-ness running around.
Having just worked on a studio session, I thought I’d take the opportunity to talk about the differences between an at-home session like this one, vs. a studio session. At home sessions are a bit more relaxed and do not need to happen in the first three weeks of the baby’s life. Since you are not necessarily doing much to pose the baby, you don’t need to grab them in those initial weeks to get the posing down. At home sessions though, require a likely tired family to clean up their bedroom a bit, so we don’t get things like water cups, tissues and breast flanges in the background of a timeless family photo. Each has an upside and a downside, it is all about your individual style, so don’t be afraid to tell me if you have something in particular in mind!
